Rockingham is the only New Hampshire County to have a border on the Atlantic Ocean, albeit, only 17-miles long.
The county was incorporated March 19, 1771 and named by Governor Benning Wentworth in honor of Charles Watson Wentworth, Marquis of Rockingham.
