TOWNS

Suffolk County was established by the General Court in 1643. Its size diminished during the 1700s with the creation of Uxbridge, Worcester and Norfolk counties. The county exists as an historical geographic area. There is no county government today. The State of Massachusetts assumed all county functions in 1999.
