What would become the Town of Sharon was first settled in 1637. Incorporated as the Town of Stoughtonham in 1775, the name was changed to Sharon in 1783.
Located 22 miles midway between Boston and Providence, Sharon has access to Boston and Providence via MBTA commuter trains.
Sharon was a popular resort town from about 1850 through the 1930s.
