Macungie Borough [†] is a small community of just over 3,000 residents located in southwestern Lehigh County. It is approximately 6 miles southwest of downtown Allentown. PA 100 is the Borough's main thoroughfare. To the north, it connects Macungie with I-78 via Lower Macungie Township and Upper Macungie Township. To the south, PA 100 extends along the Berks County - Montgomery County boundary into Chester County, and eventually to the Downingtown exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I‑76). Macungie Borough is densely developed with a traditional, small town, "Main Street" business area. The townships that surround Macungie are long-time agricultural areas that have recently experienced significant suburban-style growth.

Macungie Borough has a vibrant downtown surrounded by attractive, well-maintained neighborhoods. Macungie has been an active partner in Lehigh County's Borough Business Revitalization Program and part of the Main Street Program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
