Belknap County administrative offices are located at 34 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246; phone: 603-527-5400.

Belknap County was created in 1840 from part of Stafford County. It was named for Jeremy Belknap, historian who wrote a history of New Hampshire and also served as a Congregational minister. Nearly 1/6th of the of the county area is water, including a large portion of Lake Winnipesaukee and all of Lake Winnisquam. [1]
