The Aiken County Courthouse is located at 828 Richland Avenue West, Aiken, SC 29801; phone: 803-642-1690.

The county is named for William Aiken [1779-1831], first president of the South Carolina Railroad Company.

The county was created in 1871 from parts of Barnfield, Edgefield, Lexington and Orangeburg counties.
