Habersham County Courthouse is located at 555 Monroe Street, Clarkesville, GA 30523; phone: 706-754-6264.

Created in 1818, Habersham County was named for Colonel Joseph Habersham [1751-1815] who was appointed by George Washington to serve as Postmaster General, serving from 1795-1801. Prior to that, Habersham served as mayor of Savannah, from 1792-1793.
