Around 1884 it was proposed that the area around Limerick Square and Limerick Station be incorporated as a Borough. The proposed name was Linfield. Modern maps of the area that was Limerick Station are now marked as "Linfield." [1]

LIMERICK STATION. Known by this name is a village of 250 inhabitants, situated on the Schuylkill river and P.& R. R. R., in Limerick township, Montamery county, 17 miles northwest of Norristown,the county seat, and 7 west of Schwenkville, its banking town. Charles Frick, postmaster.
