Among the many attractive residences lining West Court Street is the Summers Smith House, circa 1870 (corner of W Court and N West Streets), which was for a time home of famed anthropologist, Margaret Mead. "This residence is one of the town's earliest examples if Gothic Revival design. The steeply pitched roof profile highlighted by finials and the tall windows accent the building's narrow vertical thrust.
