Ruppletown, once home of the families of canal boatmen and was known as "The Hills," being located on a table above the canal and river. A family named Ruple appears to be the village's namesake. As late as 1902 Ruppletown had its own school. Large diabase boulder, like those found in Ringing Rocks Park, are seen in the front yards of a number of residences in the area.
