Powhatan Court House

Powhatan Court House is an unincorporated community and the county seat of Powhatan County. The Powhatan post office is located at 4195 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139; phone: 804-598-6975.

Originally called Scottsville after General Charles Scott of the Continental Army, the name of this county town was later changed to Powhatan Court House because it was being confused with Scottsville in nearby Albemarle County.
