Hendersonville was first settled about 1785 by Daniel Smith [1748-1818], a surveyor who served as a Tennessee U.S. Senator from 1798-1799. Incorporated in 1969, this Nashville suburb has become one of Sumner County's fastest-growing cities, rivaling Franklin and Murfreesboro.
