Historic Village [1]

New Kingston was on land owned by Joseph Junkin, who settled here in 1736. Here his grandson, Reverend George Junkin was born. He became first president of Lafayette College, and was father-in-law of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, of the Confederate Army. In the Junkin stone mansion the first Covenanter's communion service in America was celebrated August 23, 1752.
