Hart City [1] was founded ca. 1856 and platted in 1864. Hart was designated the Oceana County Seat in 1865, was incorporated as a village in 1885 and incorporated as a city in 1946. Located along the southern branch of the Pentwater River, Hart is approximately midway between Muskegon and Ludington.
