Metropolis City Hall is located at 106 West 5th Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.
Metropolis was platted in 1839 along the Ohio River by William McBane and James Wilcox, about a mile west of the French Fort Massac.
In 1972 Metropolis was designated (or designated itself) the "official home of Superman." The Super Museum opened in 1993 and soon became one of Illinois' top tourist destinations.
