Richland is home to five National Historic Landmarks (all located in Columbia): Chapelle Administration Building (c. 1925; designated 1976), First Baptist Church (ca. 1859; designated 1973), Robert Mills House (ca. 1823, Greek Revival, designated 1973), Mills Building (ca. 1827, South Carolina State Hospital, designated 1973), South Carolina State House (ca, 1851-1907, designated 1976).
