Birchfield is a residential subdivision of condos, townhomes, half-duplex (twins) and detached, single family homes built during the 1970s and 1980s by Hovnanian. Median age is ca. 1981. Half duplex homes are 2 to 3 bedrooms, 1 to 2-1/2 baths, no basements; some with 1-car attached garage. Condos are 2 to 3 bedrooms, 1 to 2 baths, approximately 900-1,200 sq. ft. of interior living space; no basements, no garages. Townhomes are approximately 1,700 sq. ft. with 2 to 3 bedrooms, 1 to 2-1/2 baths, no basement; about 1/3rd of the townhomes have a 1-car attached garage. Detached singles are approximately 2,000 sq. ft. of interior living space on lots averaging 1/4 acre with 2 to 5 bedrooms, 2 to 2-1/2 baths, no basements, and a 1 to 2-car attached garage.

Access to the Birchfield neighborhood is from Church Road South onto Birchfield Drive, Union Mill Road onto Lake Drive North, or Elbo Lane onto Firehouse Lane.
