The township is part of the Pottsgrove School District.
The townships 19th century residences are located in the historic community of Stowe (just over the southwest boundary of Pottstown Boro) and are concentrated along Ash Street, Howard Street, Lemon Street, Old Reading Pike, and Race Street. The earliest are row homes along West Vine Street, built circa 1873.
Pottstown Borough, West Pottsgrove Township, and Upper Pottsgrove Township work in close association in implementing goals presented in the Pottstown Metropolitan Regional Comprehensive Plan.
