Beginnings [1]

Pickering Valley Farms, formerly the 38-acre farm of Thomas Byrne, a Phoenixville lace manufacturer, is an attractive development with 52 two-story, split-level and ranch homes directly behind houses of older vintage on White Horse Road between Corner Store and Williams' Corner in Schuylkill Township. The name was given to the development by Frank Fanelli in 1961, sales manager of Pickering Valley Construction Co., because he thought the area coincided with the Pickering hunt country. More properly the development belongs to Corner Stores.
