Lewis Mills ... which has two houses squatting in a broad meadow, lies on the south bank of the Eastern Brandywine in northwestern Chester County. The settlement was named for Samuel Lewis, a millwright from Wagontown who ground corn and cut lumber for early settlers. He also threw up a dam across the stream to supply water power for Isabella Furnace, one mile east of the mill. [1]
