Neighborhoods

Since its founding in 1861, Lewiston has served as a regional service center, providing goods, services and employment to those living in surrounding areas. This tradition continues to this day and should continue for the foreseeable future. Lewiston continues to be the destination of choice for a large market area which extends from the Montana state line on the east, Riggins on the south, Pomeroy, Washington, and Joseph, Oregon, on the west and Pullman, Washington and Moscow, Idaho, on the north. This trade area encompasses a population in excess of 145,000 people. [City of Lewiston, Lewiston Comprehensive Plan, 1999, www.cityoflewiston.org, accessed May, 2012]
