Walker County Courthouse is located at 1100 University Avenue, Huntsville TX 77340; phone: 935-436-4922. The county is named for Samuel Hamilton Walker [1817-1847] who was a Texas Ranger and veteran 1846 Mexican War. As early as 1830 a trading post was established on the site of the future Huntsville by Pleasant and Ephraim Gray who engaged in brisk trade with Indians in the area. |
