Independent Cities Missouri
|
Located at the confluence of the Missouri (Big Muddy) and the (Mighty) Mississipi Rivers, the City of St. Louis separated from St. Louis County in 1876. It is the sole political subdivision of Missouri that holds this distinction. Unlike some consolidated county/city entities (Philadelphia for example), St. Louis City is independent of St. Louis County. |
