Winooski City Hall is located at 27 West Allen Street, Winooski, VT 05404; phone: 802-655-6410. First settled in the 1770s, Winooski was incorporated as a city in 1922.
In 1895 the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad published a travelers guide titled Health and Pleasure on America's Greatest Railroad, in which the entry for Winooski reads as follows: Winooski is a prosperous manufacturing village, and quite prominent as a Summer resort. The scenery is exceedingly picturesque. Winooski Gorge and Falls are the principal attractions, and are often visited by tourists stopping at Burlington. South of the village on a hill stands a granite column which marks the grave of Ethan Allen." |
