Manchester Town

Manchester was one of the towns chartered by New Hampshire Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth in 1761. He named it in honor of Robert Montagu, Duke of Manchester. Settlement began around 1764 and by 1784 a village was being laid out and promoted.
