The Borough was incorporated in 1873 from Lower Turkeyfoot Township.

CONFLUENCE. Was first settled in 1770, incorporated as a borough in 1871, and is now the location of 480 persons, in Lower Turkey Foot township, Somerset county, on P. Div. B. & 0. R. R., and the Youghiogheny river, 25 miles southwest of Somerset court house. Lumber, bark, hoop poles, leather and staves are exported. Ex., B. & 0. Tel.
