Golden Mount is a middle-class residential borough incorporated in 1919. The name is an inversion of the French mont d'or, or 'golden mount.' Settlement occurred here prior to 1790. One of the landmarks is the Espy House, W. Liberty and Pioneer Aves., a well-preserved frame structure erected about 1800.
