Beginnings [1]

The Village of Limestone was incorporated in 1877. The name is said to derive from the rapid deterioration of some excavated skeletons, which quickly became white dust upon exposure to air. The village residents voted to dissolve its incorporation, and the village and become an unincorporated community, or hamlet, within the Town of Carrolton, a change that takes effect on January 1, 2011. The village will be dissolved following the successful passage of a referendum on September 28, 2009.
