Beatrice City

Beatrice was founded at the site of a Big Blue River crossing in 1857 by a group of settlers from St. Louis The town was named in honor of Julia Beatrice Kinney who was the daughter of Judge J. Kinney. Judge Kinney was the first president of the Nebraska Association, an organization created to explore the Nebraska Territory and recommoned townsites.
