Mableton is a census-designated place; it was incoporated as a town in 1912. The town corporation was dissolved in 1916. The Marbleton Post Office is located at 5284 Floyd Road Southewest, Marbleton, GA 30126.
Marbleton was named for Robert Mable who purchased 300 aces of land here in 1843. In the 1880s the Souther Railway opened a train depot here. Marbleton was the birthplace of Roy Barnes, former Georgia governor (1999-2003).
